Admission Control and Flow Scheduling for IEEE

چکیده
Multihop WiMAX networks show a lot of promise as the last mile in broadband connections for streaming audio and video to users. Such WiMAX networks are based on IEEE 802.16, which specifies the service classes for Q u a l i t y o f S e r v i c e ( QoS), but leaves the admission and scheduling mechanisms open. This paper presents a flow admission control and scheduling scheme for multihop WiMAX networks based on IEEE 802.16. Our admission control and scheduling scheme ensures that the various QoS parameters for the 802.16 service classes are met. We present our flow admission control and scheduling scheme and simulation results for this scheme. We then compare it in terms of QoS provided, with a simple admission and scheduling scheme and an admission scheme proposed by Ghosh et al. in [1]. Simulation results show that our scheme indeed guarantees the QoS parameters (minimum assured bandwidth, maximum allowable packet delay, maximum allowable packet jitter) needed by the different service classes of 802.16.

Scalable Services via Egress Admission Control
Allocating resources for multimedia traffic flows with real-time performance requirements is an important challenge for future packet networks. However, in large-scale networks, individually managing each traffic flow on each of its traversed routers has fundamental scalability limitations, in both the control plane’s requirements for signaling, state management, and admission control, and the ...
متن کاملWireless access to the World Wide Web in an integrated CDMA system
In this paper we propose a wireless access mechanism for web traffic packets in an integrated wireless CDMA system, that has both voice and web traffic. It consists of a two level control: admission control and flow control. The admission control restricts the number of users in the system such that QoS requirements (target signal to interference ratio, and delay) for both voice and web traffic...
متن کاملDesign and performance analysis of the Real-Time HCCA scheduler for IEEE 802.11e WLANs
This paper presents a new scheduling algorithm, called Real-Time HCCA (RTH), devised to support Quality of Service (QoS) at the flow level in an IEEE 802.11e network using the Hybrid Coordinator Function (HCF) Controlled Channel Access (HCCA) function. RTH separates online activities which take place at the frame transmission timescale, from offline activities which take place at the flow lifet...
متن کاملAn Adaptive Power Efficient Packet Scheduling Algorithm for Wimax Networks
Admission control schemes and scheduling algorithms are designed to offer QoS services in 802.16/802.16e networks and a number of studies have investigated these issues. But the channel condition and priority of traffic classes are very rarely considered in the existing scheduling algorithms. Although a number of energy saving mechanisms have been proposed for the IEEE 802.16e, to minimize the ...
متن کاملPerformance Evaluation of Connection Admission Control for IEEE 802.16 Networks
Quality of Service (QoS) provisioning to the various kinds of network traffic is one of the major design criteria of IEEE 802.16 WiMAX standard. The MAC and physical layers of 802.16 standards are designed to support different types of real time application by providing QoS. Scheduling, Connection Admission Control (CAC) and traffic policing are the major issues to ensure QoS. In standard, sche...
